On 16th February 2020, IEEE AIUB Student Branch organized the IEEE Members’ Orientation 2020 at American International University – Bangladesh. The event’s goal was to introduce and welcome the new members of the current year, followed by acknowledging the invaluable hard work and commitment put in by the faculty members and students who fulfilled the governing body’s role in the previous year. In the year 2020, IEEE AIUB Student Branch started its journey with over 350 members officially registered under the student branch.

The grand event was inaugurated by Prof. Dr. A.B.M. Siddique Hossain, Dean, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB; Advisor, IEEE AIUB Student Branch, who initiated his session with the decades-old history of IEEE and educated the audience on to primary mission and vision of IEEE. He inspired other engineering departments to contribute to the organization. Furthermore, he acknowledged the increasing number of members of the IEEE AIUB Student Branch and IEEE Bangladesh Section. He further described the different membership grades of IEEE and mentioned the membership advantages in each respective stage. Finally, he concluded the session by inspiring members to publish and educate themselves through IEEE vast digital libraries and conferences. Afterward, Prof. Dr. A.B.M. Siddique Hossain thanked the previous executive committee for their overwhelming endeavors, dedication, commitment, and support towards the branch.

The second session was conducted by Prof. Dr. Md. Abdur Rahman, Vice-Chair(Activity), IEEE Bangladesh Section; Advisor, IEEE AIUB Student Branch; Associate Dean, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB. He took the stage and demonstrated the key features of a leader through the means of a video. He then inspired the future leaders to use IEEE to increase practical skills that may help lure employers. He described the significance of IEEE international conferences and how they help in both educational and corporate fields. Furthermore, he elaborated the process through which IEEE operates and introduced many of IEEE affiliates and future IEEE ventures. The speaker inspired the new members to achieve different IEEE grants and discounts and ways of using IEEE membership to its fullest. Afterward, Prof. Dr. Md. Abdur Rahman was provided with a token of gratitude by Dr. Md. Hasan Imam, Counselor, IEEE AIUB Student Branch; Senior Assistant Professor, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB, Kawshik Shikder Motivator, IEEE AIUB Student Branch; Assistant Professor, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB; and Tasnuva Tasneem, Motivator & Coordinator; IEEE Women in Engineering AIUB Student Branch Chapter; Assistant Professor, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB.

Shortly after, Prof. Dr. Md. Abdur Rahman, Chowdhury Akram Hossain, Former Counselor, IEEE AIUB Student Branch, Senior Assistant Professor, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB, and Md. Saniat Rahman Zishan, Advisor, IEEE AIUB Student Branch, Head of CoE Department, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB, took the stage and welcomed all the members and showed gratitude for being a part of IEEE AIUB Student Branch. They then announced the Counselor, Advisors, and Executive Board of IEEE AIUB Student Branch for 2019. The two Faculty Members also provided a Token of Appreciation to the Executives of the previous year. Afterward, a token of gratitude was provided by Dr. Md. Hasan Imam, Kaushik Shikder, and Tasnuva Tasneem to Prof. Dr. Md. Abdul Mannan, Director, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB, Dr. Md. Nasir Uddin, Associate Professor & Head of Post Graduate Program, Chowdhury Akram Hossain and Md. Saniat Rahman Zishan.

Later, Dr. Md. Hasan Imam took the stage for presenting Souvenir and Conveyance to the Executives of the IEEE AIUB Student Branch for their enormous effort, dedication, and commitment towards the branch. Following that, the cultural session took place in which multiple musical & dance performances were conducted by the AIUB Performing Arts Club (APAC). Afterward, Tasnuva Tasneem presented a token of gratitude to Tajul Islam, President, AIUB Performing Arts Club (APAC), for making the Orientation Program grand and joyous.

Finally, the closing speech of the event was delivered by Dr. Md. Hasan Imam, Counselor, IEEE AIUB Student Branch, Senior Assistant Professor, Faculty of Engineering AIUB who thanked all the participants for being a part of the event and being a part of IEEE AIUB Student Branch. He also elaborately discussed the upcoming events of the IEEE AIUB Student Branch.  A group photo session was then taken, which marked the end of the event. The grand event was graced with the presence of Mehedi Azad Shaon, Lecturer, Department of EEE, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB, Abir Ahmed, Lecturer, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB, Md. Rakibul Alam (Polok), Junior Executive, Office of Student Affairs (OSA), AIUB. The event was graced by the presence of 345 registered IEEE Student Members.
