On 1st August 2019, IEEE AIUB Student Branch in collaboration with Erasmus Mundus Association (EMA) successfully organized a seminar on “Road to Erasmus+ Scholarship” at American International University–Bangladesh (AIUB). This seminar mainly focused on the application procedures of Erasmus+ scholarship for those who are looking forward to accomplish their goals to pursue higher education in Europe. The seminar was inaugurated by the opening remarks from Prof. Dr. ABM Siddique HossainDean, Faculty of Engineering (FE), AIUB; Advisor, IEEE AIUB Student Branch who discussed about the importance of postgraduate degrees for an Engineer. He gave a brief idea about the demand of Erasmus+ scholarships in recent times, its enormous networks, its requirements and the facilities it provides to its holders.

 

The first speaker of the seminar Fakrul Islam Tushar, Post Graduate Research Associate, Carl E.Ravin Advanced Imaging Laboratories, Duke University Medical Center, USA; Erasmus+ graduateMAIA took the stage and initiated his presentation by giving an overview of Erasmus+ including its basic structure, requirements and selection procedures. He talked about how the success rate of students from Bangladesh getting into the program drastically increased in recent times, building more opportunities in the program.

Later on, Mohammad Irfan YousufErasmus Scholar, STEPS, took the stage and initiated his presentation by sharing his journey of achieving Erasmus+ scholarship with the audience. In this venture he mainly discussed the importance of the CV, motivation letter and recommendation letter for the scholarship. After that, Zakia Khatun Erasmus Scholar, MAIA took the stage and shared her journey to the Erasmus+ with the audience along with the problems that she faced during that journey. She then emphasized on different types of programs currently offered as well as proposed in future by the EMA. The last speaker, Siam Hasan KhanErasmus scholar, STEPS took the stage and initiated his presentation by discussing about the facilities provided by Erasmus to its scholarship holders. He concluded his presentation by suggesting the students to start preparing themselves for applying for the scholarship from now.

An interactive Question-Answer session took place at the end. Later, Dr. Md. Hasan Imam, Counselor, IEEE AIUB Student Branch; Education Activity Coordinator, IEEE BDS Computer Society Chapter; Advisor, IEEE EMBS AIUB SB Chapter; Senior Asst. Professor, FE, AIUB, took the stage and gave the concluding speech where he suggested the students that, instead of running for CGPA, they should focus on multiple research papers for enriching the CV. At the end, Crests and certificates have been provided to the speakers as a token of appreciation. The seminar was crowded with around 150 enthusiasts from reputed universities, IEEE Student Branches and organizations in Bangladesh. The event was graced by the presence of Kawshik Shikder, Motivator, IEEE AIUB Student Branch; Advisor, IEEE MTTS AIUB SB Chapter; Asst.
