On 10th April 2019, IEEE AIUB Student Branch organized the Members’ Orientation 2019 at American International University – Bangladesh. The goal of the event was to introduce and welcome the new members of the current year, followed by acknowledging the invaluable hard work and commitment put in by the faculty members and students who fulfilled the role of the governing body in the previous year.
The grand event was inaugurated by Prof. Dr. A.B.M. Siddique Hossain, Dean, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB; Advisor, IEEE AIUB Student Branch, who initiated his speech by talking about the industrial revolution and how IEEE played a huge part in the process. He further talked about how the world is advancing in a rapid manner and how crucial it is to upgrade ones knowledge. Afterwards, Prof. Dr. A.B.M. Siddique Hossain was provided with token of gratitude by Prof. Dr. Md. Abdur Rahman, Associate Dean, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB; Advisor, IEEE AIUB Student Branch.
Later on, Prof. Dr. Md. Abdur Rahman, Associate Dean, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB; Advisor, IEEE AIUB Student Branch took the stage and extended the knowledge on IEEE and what are the key differences that make it an exception. He further urged the members to utilize the gifts and knowledge of IEEE, to take them on new heights. Afterwards, Prof. Dr. Md. Abdur Rahman was provided with token of gratitude by Prof. Dr. A.B.M. Siddique Hossain.
For concluding the remarks session Prof. Dr. Md. Abdul Mannan, Director, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB; Advisor, IEEE AIUB Student Branch took the stage and asked the members to set priorities. He further advised the members to enrich networking along with finding ones true potential. Afterwards, Prof. Dr. Md. Abdul Mannan was provided with token of gratitude by Prof. Dr. Md. Abdur Rahman and Prof. Dr. A.B.M. Siddique Hossain.
After the culmination of the remarks session, Mohammad Hameem Raihan, Former Secretary, IEEE AIUB Student Branch took the stage and initiated the information session. He provided in depth core information about IEEE; IEEE Sight, IEEE Foundation, IEEE Collabratec and many more. He further addressed how IEEE AIUB Student Branch took part in many IEEE competitions and projects.
For concluding the information session, Moin Uddin, Former Chairperson, IEEE AIUB Student Branch, took the stage and explained the importance and value of iee.org. He shared his experiences with his time in the Student Branch and the journey he has travelled. He terminated the session by advising the members to take part in different projects and activities related to IEEE and IEEE AIUB Student Branch.
Shortly after, Chowdhury Akram Hossain, Former Counselor, IEEE AIUB Student Branch, Senior Assistant Professor, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB and Md. Saniat Rahman Zishan, Advisor, IEEE AIUB Student Branch, Head of CoE Department, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB took the stage and welcomed all the members and showed gratitude for being a part of IEEE AIUB Student Branch. They then announced the new Counselor and Executive Board for the year 2019. Token of Appreciation were also provided by the two Faculty Members to the Executives of the previous year. Afterwards a token of gratitude was provided to Chowdhury Akram Hossain and Md. Saniat Rahman Zishan by Dr. Md. Hasan Imam, Counselor, IEEE AIUB Student Branch, Senior Assistant Professor, Faculty of Engineering AIUB.
Later on, Dr. Md. Hasan Imam, Counselor, IEEE AIUB Student Branch, Senior Assistant Professor, Faculty of Engineering AIUB took the stage and expressed euphoria for being honored with the prestigious position as the new Counselor of IEEE AIUB Student Branch. He further advised the members to seize all the opportunities provided by the Student branch. Afterwards, Dr. Md. Hasan Imam was provided with token of gratitude by Chowdhury Akram Hossain and Md. Saniat Rahman Zishan.
The games and interactive session took place soon after. For this session, a raffle draw competition was conducted by Moin Uddin, Former Chairperson, IEEE AIUB Student Branch, Md. Symun Rezwan, Vice-Chairperson (2017), IEEE AIUB Student Branchand Raihanul Haque Raihan, Event Coordinator (2017), IEEE AIUB Student Branch respectively.
Later, the cultural session took place. For this session, several musical performances were conducted by in-house performers.
Finally, the closing speech of the event was delivered by Tasnuva Tasneem, Motivator and WIE Coordinator, IEEE AIUB Student Branch, Assistant Professor, Faculty of Engineering AIUB who thanked all the participants for being a part of the event and for also being a part of IEEE AIUB Student Branch. A group photo session was then taken which marked the end of the event. The grand event was graced with the presence of Tawsif Ibne Alam, Special Assistant, Department of EEE, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB and Sadia Yasmin, Senior Lecturer, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB.
