On 13th February, 2016, IEEE AIUB Student Branch successfully organized its first industrial tour of the year to Ghorashal Thermal Power Station, Narshingdi. The power plant is a state of the art with the total capacity of 1000 MW, which is generated by 6 different generator units. It was a one-day tour and the participating students got the chance to directly observe and study the generation, transmission and distribution methodology and process of the power plant.
Mr. Masud Rana, Deputy Manager, Bangladesh Power Development Board, Mr. Kshirod Mohan Bose, Assistant Chief Engineer, Ghorashal Power Station and Mr. Amirul Momenin, Executive Engineer, Bangladesh Power Development Board enthusiastically guided the students through myriad processes regarding the power plant. Students got practical demonstration on several power plant equipments namely Turbine, Generator, Governor, Cooling System, Boiler, Economiser, Superheater, Re-Heater, Sub-Station, Protection Devices, Switchgear Facilities.
Dr. Md. Tanvir Hasan, Assistant Professor, Dept. of EEE, AIUB presented the instructors with a token of appreciation from AIUB to honor their wholehearted effort. The tour was blessed with the presence of Mr. Shameem Ahmad, Lecturer, Dept. of EEE, AIUB, Mr. Mahmoodul Islam, Assistant Professor, Dept. of EEE, AIUB and Mr. Shuvra Saha, Lecturer, Dept. of EEE, AIUB.
