IEEE AIUB Student Branch presents “Workshop on madC”

On 23rd March, 2017, IEEE AIUB Student Branch in collaboration with IEEE Bangladesh Section Student Activity Committee organized a workshop on IEEE madC (Mobile App Development Competition), held at EL-52, Faculty of Engineering Building, American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB). The half-day long workshop consisted of 42 participants interested in learning about app development with the help of Android Studio.

The event began with the opening speech from our honorable Prof. Dr. A.B.M. Siddique Hossain, Dean, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB; Ex-Chair, IEEE Bangladesh Section, who discussed the importance of app development, its efficiency and adaptability into smart technology.

Following him, Mr. Mohammad Hafizur Rahman, Assistant Professor, Faculty of Science and Information Technology, AIUB, as the second speaker presented a brief discussion on the chronological development of hardware architecture of microprocessors, operating systems and programming languages in relation to the evolution of platforms that enabled relatively easier methods of developing different applications.

Mr. Zishan Ahmed Onik, Student Assistant, Software Division, AIUB, took the stage after Mr. Mohammad Hafizur Rahman and started off by instructing the participants on the basics of Android Studio with an accompanying demonstration of an application code on it. This session also included a primary breakdown of the stages of an application, a discussion on existing app development kits, Question and Answer session and feedback from the participants.

Next on stage was, Mr. Khaza Newaz Muhammad, Professional Activities Coordinator, IEEE Bangladesh Section Young Professionals; Lecturer, Faculty of Science and Information Technology, AIUB, who talked about the ideal characteristics of an app such as its responsiveness, security and the ability to transfer its infrastructure to the cloud storage system.

Later, a presentation by Raihanul Haque Raihan, Ambassador for IEEE madC; Event Coordinator (2017), IEEE AIUB Student Branch, on IEEE madC gave an overview of the details, dates, guidelines, judging criteria and specifications of ideas and development of apps for participants interested in submitting their app projects for IEEE madC.

Lastly, Prof. Dr. A.B.M. Siddique Hossain, delivered the closing speech and handed over small tokens of appreciation to the instructors of the workshop on behalf of IEEE AIUB Student Branch. The event was then concluded with a group photo with the attendees.
